Clinico-pathological Profile and Immediate Hospital Outcome of Acute Pancreatitis

Background: Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a significant cause of acute abdominal pain, morbidity andhospitalization. Knowing the details clinico-pathological presentation and outcome diseasemay aid better understanding disease.Objective: The study was designed to assess profile estimate immediatehospital patients admitted into tertiary care hospital. Materials Methods: This hospital based cross-sectional type observational conductedat Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), for one-year period (June 2018-May 2019).Total 106established cases were included in this study. Data analyzed by SPSS 22Windows version graph & chart expressed using 22 MS Excel. Result waspresented with tables charts. Results: Among 106 patients, mean age 42.5 ±11.3 SD (years), male predominance(male: female-1.2:1). All complained pain (100%) while anorexia (48.1%), 43.4%had vomiting 31.1% had fever. Regarding clinical signs, distension (45.3%), paralytic ileus(34.9%) dehydration (43.4%) found be major signs. common location painwas epigastric region (73.6%) radiation back 20.8% patients. Pain severe agonizing innature 76.4% cases. Of all, gall stone disease (17.0%) most prevalent cause. According toAPACHE-II score, 74.5% mild (APACHE-II <8) according Glasgowcriteria, 66.0% (Glasgow score <3). Mean APACHE-II 7.07±2.50 Glasgowscore 2.90±2.33. stays 8.9±3.6 days NPO (nothing per oral) 4.9±1.9 days.Among 77.4% alive mortality rate 22.6%. Conclusion: Although, larger portion no identifiable but themost etiology. commonly located back. all thecases, more than sixty percent estimated APACHE II andGlasgow score. about 9 nothing oral 5 days.
